Köstlin enhances printing efficiency with PureFlexo™ from Miraclon

PureFlexo Printing technology boosts efficiency and quality at Köstlin Prepress, Germany.

Köstlin Prepress Services, based in Ditzingen, Southwest Germany, has embraced technological innovations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring consistent quality in plate production. In 2022, the company adopted PureFlexo Printing™ from Miraclon, accessed through FLEXCEL NX Print Suite for Flexible Packaging.

PureFlexo Printing employs advanced plate surface patterns to combat ink spreading or buildup during printing, offering packaging printers a more reliable production process and higher print quality, particularly on film. Managing Director Marc Talmon Gros noted, “Our customers often comment on the significant improvement in consistency and the virtual elimination of trailing edge voids as proven benefits of using PureFlexo Printing.”

Impressed by the results, Köstlin now supplies nearly 30 packaging printers with FLEXCEL NXH and FLEXCEL NX Ultra plates, both utilizing PureFlexo Printing technology.

Marc highlighted the company’s early adoption of PureFlexo Printing as a strategic move to differentiate themselves in the market. He expressed confidence in Miraclon’s commitment to developing solutions that enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost savings for both Köstlin and its customers.

Regarding FLEXCEL NX Central Software, implemented at Köstlin since early 2023, Marc noted its contribution to better plate material utilization, reduced layout time, and improved production planning. He emphasized the software’s role in enabling precise production planning and order prioritization, enhancing overall system utilization.

Köstlin has been using KODAK FLEXCEL NX Technology since 2013 and has integrated the FLEXCEL NX Ultra Solution for solvent-free, VOC-free, water-based flexo platemaking. Specializing in food and cosmetics packaging for brand owners and retail private labels, Köstlin’s use of FLEXCEL NX and FLEXCEL NX Ultra Plates accounts for approximately 70% of its total flexo plate production.
